A Breach That Impacted Millions

The breach occurred when hackers, linked to the ALPHV/BlackCat ransomware group, gained unauthorized access to Prudential’s systems. Sensitive data, including names, addresses, and driver’s license numbers, was exposed.

Initially believed to affect only a small number of individuals, Prudential later confirmed the breach impacted over 2.5 million people. The company has offered those affected two years of credit monitoring and identity protection services.

What the Settlement Provides

The $4.75 million class action settlement ensures financial relief for affected individuals and includes:

  • Up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses
  • Up to $599 for individuals whose Social Security numbers were exposed - even without documented financial harm
  • $100–$599 for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
  • Pro rata payments for all other affected individuals
  • Full coverage of legal and administrative costs, with no unclaimed funds returning to Prudential

This structure guarantees that all available funds go directly toward victims and case resolution.
